Internships
The Avalanche Workshop LLC is a full-service political consulting firm that supports Democratic candidates in New Jersey. We are currently seeking interns to fill various roles within our Hillsborough offices for the summer and fall 2023 semesters. We offer technical support to candidates in every level of local government through fundraising, ELEC compliance, social media, field voter outreach, and other tailored needs to our Democratic Candidates. We operate a small and limited team with each person on it specializing in a certain skill.
As an Intern for The Avalanche Workshop, LLC, you will play an integral role in contributing to the framework of our firm. Real world political experience will boost your skill level when you enter the job market, which is why we require our interns to be diligent.
At The Avalanche Workshop, LLC you will learn to use research skills to further understand the political landscape, network, engage and influence people, and tackle challenges with creative solutions and detailed analysis. The environment is team based and extremely supportive. This position focuses on multi-faceted immersion with the political process. As a political consulting intern you will be exposed to opposition, policy, and demographic research, social media tracking, direct voter contact, data entry and fundraising work.
Interns will also work alongside our skilled team to plan and execute an ambitious plan to win in November. Interns will gain first-hand experience in campaign communication, finance, event management, and organizing. The intern program will be a 5-10 hour per week commitment that will break down into 2 or 3 shifts per week. The intern will work in person/virtually out of the Avalanche’s office, campaign offices, and may attend events.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Empowering communities to make political change
- Build financial resources to sustain core campaign activities
- Develop and execute a plan to hit fundraising targets throughout the duration of the campaign
- Managing and executing phone banks, canvasses, text banks, and other voter contact efforts
- Learning to use the Voter Activation Network (VAN), a voter database system utilized by Democratic campaigns across the country
- Shadow and learn from our experienced staff in mail design, digital strategy, production management, creative design development, and client marketing and sale
- Researching candidates, campaigns, organizations, and other issues related to clients
- Assisting in copywriting, proofreading, proposals, and memoranda for clients
- Updating marketing deliverables and campaign collateral (e.g. E-Books, campaign resources)

Requirements
Qualified candidates will have a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a desire to make a meaningful impact in their local communities. All are encouraged to apply, regardless of experience.
